Problems

Life is all about solving problems. From the moment you’re born, ‘till when you die, you will always have problems to solve. First, they seem trivial, like how to eat. Later, they become not so trivial, like how not to eat… But this blog is about problems in general. Few observations about problems: first and foremost, don’t complain about having them, as I said, solving them is the reason you’re alive. Second, the hardness of a problem is not measurable – what is measurable is how people face them. An issue can become a life threatening issue for some, but a mere routinely minor problem for others. A lot of it has to do with the personality of the person subjected to the problem, as well as his/her previous experience in handling other issues. Third, problems have to be taken in context: if I say “he ended up without one of his limbs”, you may have completely different views of the situation if I say that this was a result of a plane crash where the individual survived, instead of saying it was the result of a foolish and reckless act. And finally, whenever in face of a problem, do worry. Worriness is a kind of alert system developed by living beings which can trigger proactive reactions towards dealing with the problem. Don’t abuse that worrisome feeling, though – it can backfire and prevent you from moving ahead. As a segway to my last point, if you are a listener of that famous song “don’t worry, be happy”, stop listening to it. You must worry – and be happy. Below: me, my princess, and my shiny skull.
